Anatomy and Biomechanics

Shoulder impingement occurs when the rotator cuff tendons become compressed between the shoulder bones during arm movement.

 

Signs and Symptoms

  • Pain lifting the arm overhead, especially out to the side

  • Shoulder weakness

  • Pain during sports or lifting

How Physiotherapy Helps

Treatment includes:

  • improving shoulder mobility

  • strengthening rotator cuff muscles

  • correcting posture and movement mechanics
