Headaches (Cervicogenic Headaches)

Anatomy and Biomechanics

Cervicogenic headaches originate from dysfunction in the neck joints or muscles, which can refer pain to the head.

 

Signs and Symptoms

  • headache starting in the neck

  • unilateral (one-sided) headaches

  • non-throbbing

  • pain on one side of the head

  • neck stiffness

How Physiotherapy Helps

Physiotherapy can reduce headaches through:

  • manual therapy for neck joints

  • posture correction

  • strengthening neck stabilizing muscles
