Groin Strains

Anatomy and Biomechanics

Groin strains involve injury to the adductor muscles of the inner thigh, which help stabilize the pelvis and control side-to-side movement.

 

Signs and Symptoms

  • Pain in the inner thigh

  • Pain with sprinting or cutting

  • Tenderness in the groin muscles

  • Weakness with leg movement

  • Possible bruising along the inner thigh

How Physiotherapy Helps

Treatment focuses on:

  • progressive strengthening of the adductors

  • hip stability training

  • flexibility exercises

  • return-to-sport progression
