Anatomy and Biomechanics

The plantar fascia is a thick band of connective tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot, connecting the heel to the toes. It helps support the arch and absorb forces during walking and running.

Excessive stress on the plantar fascia can lead to inflammation and small tissue injuries.

Typical symptoms include:

  • Sharp heel pain with the first steps in the morning

  • Pain after long periods of standing

  • Tenderness under the heel

  • Pain during walking or running

  • Manual therapy for the foot and ankle
